Food for Boarders

Good health and mental well-being are vital to a happy and successful life and food and nutrition play a key part to achieving this. At Ryde we offer a wide selection of food at all meals with religious requirements, allergies and special diets catered for.  A good choice of healthy and delicious hot and cold meals are available and the catering teams, both at the Bembridge Campus and at Main School  create themed and special meals to mark specific dates in the calendar and to help cross-cultural awareness. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Burns Night, Chinese New Year, Pancake Day, Mexican evenings, to name but a few all contribute to creating a fun and relaxed eating environment.

Boarders have breakfast and supper in the dining room at the Bembridge Campus . Lunch is served in the dining hall at school. At weekends all meals are taken on campus, but pupils are also free to cook for themselves, eat out or get a takeaway treat.

Boarders have most meals at school in the dining hall. However, at the weekends and at the boarders request, they are provided with fresh ingredients so they can cook their own choice of meals in the kitchen at Spinnaker House. Spinnaker is becoming rather famous for their sumptuous Sunday Roasts!

    House Kitchens

All Houses have a well equipped kitchen which the boarders can make full use of. Our programme includes baking and cooking activities where they can learn and improve culinary skills. Basic store cupboard stock, as well as bread, milk, hot drinks, cereal and fresh fruit are supplied.

    food choice

A good choice of healthy and delicious hot meals together with a wide selection of salads, cold meats and cheeses are always available. Desserts range from traditional puddings and pies, through to ice creams and home-made yoghurts, as well as a plentiful supply of fresh fruit.
