Mathematics

“Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new”

     Albert Einstein

Our core aim is to give children an appreciation of the nature of mathematics and most importantly build their mathematical understanding in a fun and exciting environment, giving them the confidence and enthusiasm to try new challenges that at first may seem tricky.

We aim to ensure the children become competent with numbers, using an approach that is enjoyable, relevant and meaningful.

Our challenging maths scheme, ensures that children are ready for exams, and at the same time develops their ability to tackle real life situations and solve mathematical problems. Our teachers ensure that the needs of each child are met and good progress is made.

Our children enjoy the challenges of Mathletics, an excellent tool to accelerate and enrich maths. The children take part in the Ryde School and the Bryanston Maths Challenge where the competition between the children from all the visiting schools is electric!  The Junior school children were victorious in the Maths Challenge held at Ryde school last year.

We encourage children to think for themselves and become independent learners, helping to further their ability to make decisions in the real world.
