“WITHOUT MUSIC, LIFE WOULD BE A MISTAKE”
For many pupils at Ryde, music is a way of life. From Fiveways through to Upper Sixth there are many opportunities to experience a diverse range of musical activities.
All pupils in Fiveways enjoy singing in the spectacular Christmas and Summer shows, and have the opportunity to learn either the violin or cello, as well as the recorder. Many enjoy taking part in the Quivering Quavers music group.
In the Junior School, pupils have the opportunity to play in the orchestra, sing in choirs and shows and take part in Fife, Ukulele and Drumming groups. Gifted and talented instrumentalists are also given the opportunity to combine with the instrumentalists in Years 7 and 8 in the LSO (Lower School Orchestra). Individual lessons in many different instruments are available through a dedicated group of peripatetic music staff before, during and after the school day.
Drama builds trust, empathy and confidence. The Junior School show creates opportunities for acting and singing and individual lessons in public speaking LAMDA examinations and festival speaking are available through a qualified LAMDA teacher before, during and after the school day.
