The Personal Development program is designed to support students in their growth from Year 7 to Year 11. The aim is to help the students to develop their self-confidence and self-awareness so that they can perform at their best and make choices in their life that will be well informed.
The Personal Development lessons in Years 7 and 8 are delivered by the tutors and this helps students and staff get to know each other much better. The sessions continue to support students by encouraging them to learn about themselves and how to get along with others. They are are taught how to keep themselves safe and given tasks to encourage them to feel good about themselves.
From Years 9 to 11 there is an opportunity for the students to engage in discussions on a wide range of topics that are chosen to help them better understand their emotional selves as well as how to have a healthy lifestyle. They are given sex and relationship education by outreach workers from the NHS as well as through touring theatre productions. The students are given support and advice to help them lead a happy and fulfilling life.
