    Sailing

    is now an option for the Sixth Form in Games as well as offered to all pupils as part of the extra curricular programme; starting at the novice stage to advanced competitive racing. In partnership with Sea View Yacht Club, which is a RYA training centre, the school has available an impressive fleet of RS Visions, RS Fevas, Picos and Toppers together with a new RIB.

     

    Rugby

    is the major sport in the Autumn for boys. Beyond the Games sessions, we also have regular training throughout the week after school as well as a healthy block of fixtures, mostly on Saturdays. We also enter into sevens competitions in the Spring term.

     

    Hockey

    is the major sport for girls in the Autumn term and in the Spring term for the boys. We have a mini astro turf pitch onsite yet most of our hockey is delivered at our full size astro pitch at Smallbrook. Beyond the Games sessions, we also have regular training throughout the week after school as well as a healthy block of fixtures, mostly on Saturdays. Teams also enter into the Hampshire schools competitions.

     

    Cricket

    is the major sport for boys in the Summer. Beyond the Games sessions, we also have regular training throughout the week after school as well as a healthy block of fixtures, mostly on Saturdays. Teams also enter into the IW Schools competitions.

     

    Netball

    is the major sport for girls in the spring term with all girls from Years 7-10 having the opportunity both to develop their skills, techniques and game play in games lessons.  In Years 11 to the Sixth Form it is offered as an option in senior games sessions although it is expected that all players selected for the senior teams opt for netball. The School has formed close links with various netball clubs on the island such as Shorewell netball club and all girls are encouraged to pursue the sport at club level.

     

    Rounders

    is the major sport for girls in the Summer. Beyond the Games sessions, we also have regular training throughout the week after school as well as a healthy block of fixtures, mostly on Saturdays. Teams also enter into the IW Schools competitions.

     

    Golf

    is offered to the Sixth Form as a Games option and played at Westridge Golf centre. A golf professional leads the sessions. Beyond the Games sessions, we play school fixtures and enter into the schools competitions.

     

    Squash

    is offered to Year 11 and the Sixth Form as a Games option and played at Westridge Squash centre. A squash professional leads the sessions. Beyond the Games sessions, we enter a team into the National Schools Squash Championship each year and play matches against other schools. The sport is thriving at School and there is an appetite for more squash. Squash is also an option sport on a Wednesday afternoon, which is well supported. 

     

    Yoga

    is offered to Year 11 and the Sixth Form as a Games option. A professional yoga instructor leads the sessions.

     

    Football 

    is offered to the Sixth Form as a Games option.

     

    Fitness

    is offered to Years 10, 11 and the Sixth Form as a Games option. Based mainly in the fitness suite, pupils have the opportunity to work out on the cardio machines as well as the free weights area. The Sixth Form also have the option of running off-site to Quarr Abbey.

     

    BADMINTON

    is offered to Years 10, 11 and the Sixth Form as a Games option.
