Entry to the Sixth Form

It is our expectation that pupils moving into, or entering the Sixth Form, achieve at least five B grades and a C grade at GCSE level, with B grades in the subjects they wish to study at AS or IB level.  This is a realistic baseline from which pupils may proceed successfully.  Each pupil receives advice on choosing appropriate subjects.

We also expect pupils progressing to the Upper Sixth and A2 levels to achieve at least D grades at AS level in subjects they wish to study at A2 level.  For IB pupils we expect them to have achieved satisfactory levels in internal examinations and to be up to date with all coursework and core programmes (CAS, TOK, EE) to continue with the IB.

In all cases there will be a general interview to explore the candidate's interests, attitude to school, personal qualities, ability to contribute to the school community and support available at home.  Candidates may also be required to attend for interview with the Head of Sixth Form.

Please also see the sections on Applying to Ryde School and Scholarships and Assisted Places.  The School's Admissions Policy gives full details of our entry requirements.
