Collage of Pupils

Local Community

Placed in the heart of Ryde, the school is keen to be involved with the Island community. Several Island organisations make regular use of the school’s facilities, such as the Sports Hall, fields or Astroturf pitch; classrooms, studios and the theatre are also regularly in use. People wishing to use school facilities should contact the Assistant Bursar, Mrs Joanne Rich.

Some examples of the use of the school and its links with the community are listed below:
  • The school’s boarding campus is shared with the Kingswood Activity Centre.
  • Sports facilities are used by soccer, hockey, fitness and yoga clubs.
  • The choir sings evensong in cathedrals, All Saints’ Church and sings at the annual Law Service at St Thomas’s, Newport.
  • Bands and orchestras support local charity fundraising events.
  • The school’s Easter Revision courses are available to pupils outside the school.
  • Ryde School and some of the High Schools, have worked together to share resources and expertise.
  • The school theatre is used regularly by the Island blood donation service.
  • The school receives and helps train student teachers from Chichester University.
