History

Through an enhanced National Curriculum, our pupils are taught a chronological understanding and develop a knowledge and understanding of events, people and changes in the past, from the Ancient Greeks to modern times. They begin to understand that the past is represented and interpreted in different ways and begin to give reasons for this. Through historical enquiry, our children find out about events and people.

Many visits are included in this scheme, including Carisbrooke Castle, Osborne House and the D-Day Museum, Southsea. These visits culminate in the Year 6 field study at Ironbridge, Shropshire, over four days, each October. There, children can visit Blists Hill, a Victorian town, and re-enact life at a Victorian school.
