ICT

ICT is an integral part of the school curriculum, with children receiving a double ICT lesson each week. They learn the necessary skills enabling them to use our latest resources in other subjects. Our children enjoy a broad and balanced curriculum, with continuity, differentiation and progression from Key Stage 1 through Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 3. In common with others, ICT is considered a core skill alongside literacy and numeracy and science.

Our children experience all key areas of the subject, including: word processing, databases, spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentation, control work, design and research. The excellent facilities provide an environment where children can find, explore, analyse, exchange and present information. With a suite of networked machines in a designated room and further suites in the science laboratory, DT room and library, children have the opportunity to use computers whenever it can make learning more effective, regardless of age group or subject area.

There is an ongoing programme of equipping classrooms with networked interactive whiteboards to enhance learning in other curriculum areas. There is regular investment in this important area for upgrades and new developments, providing our children with the latest technology. All
machines are linked to the Internet and children have access to the school intranet through individual user names. Here the facilities are available to access up-to-date calendar fixtures, bulletin updates and homework. Children leave the Junior School ready to start “CLAIT examinations.
