Romeo & Juliet
Spring Term 2011

The talented thespians of Years 9 and 10 in Ryde School performed William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, with a modern twist.

Staging one of the Bard’s best known plays with a cast of Year 9 and 10s is a challenging task, but   under the impressive direction of Mr Bridgeman the young cast more than rose to the occasion. The abridged version of Romeo and Juliet captured the intense emotional torment of the young lovers, and the modern setting of the production allowed a fresh approach to the story that could not fail to engage the audience. From the opening battle scene performed in street dance, to the moving closing scene, the audience was delighted and enthralled with the imaginative adaption and the original performances by the cast.
