Ryde School seeks to appoint an experienced and responsive Maintenance Supervisor to join our Grounds & Maintenance team and enhance the smooth running of the site and facilities. The role will require the successful candidate to take responsibility for the day to day supervision of the School estate and the maintenance and grounds staff.
The Grounds & Maintenance team at Ryde School are tasked with ensuring that the entire site is safe, legally compliant and well maintained in a good state of repair and appearance which includes all buildings and facilities, on and off site, roads and pathways, grounds and gardens.
Together with the Maintenance Manager, you will lead the team of 10 grounds and maintenance operatives who work collaboratively towards ensuring that we offer state of the art resources inline with our commitment to providing an exceptional environment for our pupils. Safeguarding and promoting our pupils’ welfare is paramount.
The ideal candidate will:
- Be customer focused and driven by quality.
- Have a demonstrable ability to understand grounds and maintenance contracts.
- Have experience of supervising and motivating teams and individuals by allocating work and duties, giving guidance and advice to employees and contractors in order to adapt to changing priorities and schedules.
- Ensure correct use, standards and operation of tools, equipment and vehicles through regular inspections and the application of site protocols and H&S procedures.
- Be confident, highly organised and have good interpersonal skills.
- Be computer literate with a willingness to embrace new technologies and ways of working.
Location and Hours of Work
The Maintenance Supervisor will work from the School main site and is expected to live within reasonable travelling distance of the School.
The post is salaried and does not attract overtime. This is a full time, all year round position.

Part-time (3 term maternity cover)
Ryde School seeks to appoint a part-time Teacher of Design & Technology who will work in the School’s well resourced and popular Design Department. Candidates must be able to teach up to and including A Level or IB Diploma in a school where we regularly send pupils to study design-related courses. Candidates will be confident in teaching Design and Technology with Product Design focus highly desirable. All teaching staff at the School are expected to be outstanding practitioners in the classroom and to contribute to the busy co-curricular life in the School.
The Design Department is a busy and stimulating environment. We have two fully equipped workshops which offer students the opportunity to explore a range of materials and use the latest CAD/CAM technology. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a passion for the subject whilst maintaining the department's high standards.
The successful candidate will be able to take up the post in April 2024.

PERMANENT, IMMEDIATE START
We currently have a new opportunity for a Chef to join our expanding team. This role will suit a self-motivated individual who can work with minimum supervision in a vibrant and busy catering environment.
As a Chef you will contribute to the kitchen team in the preparation, cooking and presentation of delicious food for our pupils, staff and visitors. You will join a team of passionate and hard-working professionals dedicated to creating an outstanding culinary experience for our customers. We pride ourselves on producing the food for our menus to the highest standards in a clean, tidy, safe and pleasant environment. Ideally you will have a proven track record as a cook/chef in a similar catering background but this is not essential. The vital ingredients are to have a positive attitude, hands-on approach and a willingness to adapt to the varied job requirements.
You will need to work 36.5 hours per week over five days including early evenings and weekends. There will also be the opportunity to work extra weeks throughout the year to cover functions, events and lettings.
The rate of pay is negotiable and will be based on skills and experience.
Responsibilities:
- Working effectively as part of our team of chefs/cooks to prepare delicious, high-quality food that delights our pupils, staff & visitors.
- Being an enthusiastic team player and an excellent communicator.
- Helping with general kitchen tasks as directed.
- Performing accurate stock checks.
- Assisting with the preparation and delivery of hospitality, covering events and summer lettings outside of term time (this is managed on a rota basis).
- Full understanding & compliance of Allergen legislation and Natasha’s Law.
- Ensuring kitchen hygiene and food safety standards are maintained to the highest level and legislative HACCP requirements.
- Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness both front and back of the house (to include both light and deep cleaning schedules).
- Complying with the schools Health & Safety regulations.

PART-TIME, PERMANENT
Monday to Friday, Immediate Start
The School is currently looking to add to our Domestic Team of cleaners that operate outside of the hours of our normal school day. We have a requirement for 30 hours cleaning per week to be fulfilled on a Monday to Friday basis which could either be 6 hours every evening (16:30 - 22:30 pm) or may suit someone willing to work split shifts by completing 06:00 - 08:00 am each morning and a further 4 hours in the evening between the hours of 17:00 - 21:00 pm.
The cleaning roles at Ryde School typically suit self-motivated individuals with a keen eye for detail, who enjoy working both alone and within a team and are able to work with minimum supervision when the situation requires. We have a wide range of buildings and facilities which are cleaned to a high standard by our domestic team. As part of this dedicated cleaning team, you will take great pride in your work and strive to maintain these standards in all areas. Experience in a similar role is preferred but not essential as full training will be provided. COSHH and manual handling knowledge is desirable for this role, but full on-site training will be given.
