RESULTS, DESTINATIONS, &  CAREERS

We are justifiably proud of our examination results and university destinations, but these are by no means the only measure of our success. Our latest full inspection by the Independent Schools Inspectorate team, praised many excellent features in our high quality provision.

In addition to the excellent academic, creative arts and sporting activities, the location of our school enables us to provide an exciting, adventurous and diverse array of extra-curricular activities that all pupils are encouraged to participate in.

A Levels 2026 - best results in over a decade

Ryde School pupils are celebrating their best results in over a decade following an exceptional set of A Level and IB grades.

This year’s leavers attained 48.6% of grades at A*-A and 71.0% of grades at A*-B, representing the best results at this level since 2014 (excluding Covid-adjusted years).

Notably, almost a quarter of pupils achieved straight A* or A grades in their A Level subjects.

This success follows on from the best-ever IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) results earlier in the summer, where pupils achieved an exceptional average score of 35.8 points - significantly outperforming this year’s global average of 30.88.

The IB Career-related Programme (IBCP) results were also excellent with an average score of 137.3 UCAS points, higher than AAB at A Level. This superb performance across all three of the Sixth Form pathways reflects the outstanding dedication and academic ambition of the 2026 cohort of pupils.

Four other individuals to highlight are Rafi Wightwick who has received a soccer scholarship to the University of Oklahoma, Ava Cowan who will attend the highly-regarded Emil Dale Academy to study Musical Theatre, Zoe Swann who will be going to the Royal Central Conservatoire, London to study Acting: Contemporary and Devised, and Katie Andrews who has already joined the Royal Fleet Auxiliary as a Deck Officer.

LEAVERS' DESTINATIONS & COURSES 2022 - 2024

Head Master Will Turner commented:

"These achievements further cement the School's reputation for academic excellence across our diverse range of Sixth Form pathways.  These outstanding grades are a result of the pupils’ hard work and aspirations coupled with excellent teaching, individual support and careful guidance from our dedicated staff. This departing cohort of pupils can be immensely proud of their academic achievements.
"They can also take enormous pride in all their successes outside the classroom, be they in sport, drama, music, sailing, outdoor activities or the numerous other areas of school life in which they have flourished.  That they are heading off to study such a range of courses shows how the School nurtures the interests of each individual.  I wish them all the very best for their future."

- Will Turner, Headmaster

Careers

Students in the Sixth Form develop their aspirations at differing paces so we refine the process of the more advanced and encourage those who may need more help to understand that a decision will need to be made.

In the Spring Term of the Lower Sixth PD sessions are career, progression and life-skill related. Visits to career fairs and university or work-related events are also arranged and the mechanics of UCAS applications is dealt with by the Sixth Form tutor team but we advise where necessary.

Destinations of Leavers

At Ryde we pride ourselves on bringing out the best in our pupils and helping them to optimise talents and interests. Consequently our leavers’ destinations are interesting and varied.

We send pupils to Oxbridge, other Russell Group Universities, UK and International universities and colleges, art, music and drama schools and over 90% of all pupils will get their first or second choice of destination.

Pupils also choose to take a gap year or go straight into employment, often following an apprenticeship or training course.

Course choices are as diverse as destinations:
