Alumni

Our school community’s collective spirit is our greatest asset. For many, including those beyond our alumni, Ryde School remains a significant influence and a foundation for positive memories.

Founded in 1921 as Ryde Grammar School, the School became Co-Ed in 1994 when the school merged with Upper Chine Girls’ School. The acquisition of Bembridge School’s buildings followed its closure in 1996.

We welcome alumni from all three schools, either as part of the Old Rydians’ Association (ORA) or via the two separate organisations for Bembridge and Upper Chine Schools.

We are continuing to build an inclusive community which welcomes all those who have been part of Ryde School, Upper Chine Girls’ School and Bembridge Schools be it attending, working or being associated with any of the schools.

The Old Rydians: A Global Network for Life

Your relationship with Ryde School does not end when you walk out of our gates for the final time. It is simply the moment you transition from a pupil to an Old Rydian (OR).

Taking inspiration from the strongest independent school networks globally, we view our alumni community as a vibrant, professional, and social ecosystem. When you join the Old Rydians, you gain access to a lifelong network of mentorship, camaraderie, and professional opportunity that stretches from the Isle of Wight across the globe.

Our network bridges generations. Young alumni stepping out of university or starting their careers can access a powerful, trusted directory of established Old Rydians for one-on-one professional mentoring, industry insights, and career advice.

Our school motto, Ut Prosim (To be of service), guides our alumni long after graduation. Through our community initiatives, Old Rydians regularly return to campus to deliver keynote career talks, judge competitions, offer university prep workshops, and support the school’s bursary foundations to pave the way for the next generation
