Charity

Our commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals goes hand-in-hand with teaching the value of empathy, generosity, and social responsibility. We believe that true education involves looking outward, and we work hard to cultivate a deep sense of community spirit in all of our pupils.

This philosophy is not just a concept but a live, active part of daily life driven by the pupils themselves through our House system of which every pupil belongs. Across the academic year, each of our four houses, Seaford, Chine, Hanover, and Trinity takes the lead in hosting a dedicated, whole-school charity week. Together, students and staff host a range of creative fundraising activities like bake sales, sponsored walks and colour runs. The money raised is intentionally split between national initiatives and vital Island-based charities, perfectly cementing our ethos of being a proud island school with a truly global outlook.

Our dedication to others is a year-round commitment that starts close to home. As part of our Thursday afternoon CASE (Creativity, Action, Service, and Enrichment) programme, our Year 7 and 8 pupils take part in a rewarding service rotation. This gives them the hands-on opportunity to visit local care homes, sharing time and stories with the residents, and to work in Vernon Square, a beautiful local community garden. These afternoons offer our younger students a tangible, rewarding way to give back to the Island community that supports them.

The pinnacle of our service calendar arrives in the final week of the summer term with our Ut Prosim Day—named after our school motto, “To be of service.” On this inspiring day, the normal timetable is paused as students from Years 7, 8, 9, and the Lower Sixth join forces for a full morning of volunteering. The school identifies a range of local community projects that need a helping hand, and our school community comes together to oblige. Whether clearing paths, painting, or helping local organisations, Ut Prosim Day is an incredibly powerful experience for our pupils, teaching them that by working together, they have the power to make a real, positive difference in the world around them.
