Life in Senior School
Every school day is a busy, engaging mix of academic lessons and co-curricular activities including sport, performing arts and music.
The Ryde School Day
Our structured yet flexible day ensures plenty of time for academic focus, extra-curricular passions, and essential downtime.

House System
Each pupil at Ryde is a member of one of our four Houses: Chine, Hanover, Seaford and Trinity. The houses compete against each other in competitions and pupils can achieve House Points, which go towards the termly Citizenship Trophy, which is awarded to the House with the most points for the term. House competitions include our annual Sports Day, the House Song competition, House tug of war and other House Sporting competitions. Each House also has a charity week in which they raise money and awareness for a charity of their choice.
Sixth Form students have the opportunity to become House Captains and can assist the Head of House with the organisation of teams for House competitions, but also with the organisation of the House charity week.
Weekend Commitments
While there is no regular school on Saturdays, attendance is a vital part of our community spirit for sports fixtures and our key annual events:
- School Carol Services (December)
- Prizegiving Ceremonies (June/July)
Exceptional Dining: Fresh, Local, and Nutritious
A healthy mind requires a well-fed body. Senior School pupils enjoy staggered lunch sittings in our Main Dining Hall. The Pavilion Coffee Shop is open from 10:00 AM, serving snacks and light lunches.
Every meal at Ryde is cooked from scratch by our team of skilled chefs. We pride ourselves on using fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced directly from preferred local suppliers.
We are fully equipped to cater to all special dietary needs, including dairy/lactose intolerances and gluten-free diets. Please let us know your child’s specific requirements when registering for Ryde, and our catering team will handle the rest.
