VIRTUAL OPEN MORNING

Nothing quite matches a visit in person to our School. The resources below will give you a bit more information and we hope to see you at the School very soon for a visit.

Why Ryde?

Academic Choice: IBDP, IBCP & A-Level Pathways

We offer three distinct and equally valued Sixth Form pathways, allowing you to place students perfectly according to their academic strengths and university aspirations:

  • The IB Diploma (IBDP): For the all-rounder seeking a broad, internationally-recognised curriculum. We consistently achieve an average score above the global average.  In 2025 we achieved 35 points.

  • The IB Career-related Programme (IBCP): An innovative blend of academic IB courses and a career-related BTEC qualification. Ideal for the student with a clear vocational passion.

  • A-Levels: The traditional, in-depth pathway, allowing students to specialise. Our 'A-Level Plus' programme enriches this with an EPQ or an additional AS-level qualification.

A Unique & Safe Island Location

Our location on the Isle of Wight is a wonderful asset and we make the best of all it offers. We offer students:

  • Safety & Security: A beautiful, secure, and nurturing community environment, providing peace of mind for parents.

  • An Inspiring Environment: A stunning coastal setting that forms a natural campus, encouraging outdoor learning and a healthy work-life balance.

  • World-Class Sailing: We are one of the UK's top sailing schools, with the Solent as our training ground. This is a key curriculum and co-curricular feature for beginners through to our performance pathway.

A Thriving, 'Home-from-Home' Boarding Community

Our boarding is not an add-on; it is the heart of our community.

  • Purpose Built Boarding House: Our Centenary House is only four years old and offers seaviews, en-suites; it really is market leading boarding!

  • True Integration: Our boarders (from 13+ nationalities including 30% British) are fully integrated with our UK day pupils, creating a vibrant, truly British school experience.

  • No Exeat Weekends: We remain open every term-time weekend and offer half-term stay options for the one week half terms, providing stability and convenience for international families.

Simple, Supported Travel & Logistics

We are an island, but we are not remote.

  • 2 Hours to London: Just 90 minutes by train from London Waterloo to Portsmouth, followed by a simple 10-25 minute hovercraft or FastCat ride.  The school is minutes from their arrival docks.

  • Airport Access: Easily accessible from London Heathrow (LHR) and London Gatwick (LGW) (approx. 90 mins by car to the ferry) and even closer to Southampton Airport (SOU).

  • Escorted Travel: The school organises travel and airport transfers for the beginning and end of each term with our partner transport companies and this is included in the fees.
