The Role

Ryde School is seeking enthusiastic and highly skilled instrumental teachers to work with our pupils.
As a Visiting Music Teacher, you will play a vital role in inspiring, motivating and enthusing young people in their musical development. You will support and promote high-quality music-making and contribute to the delivery of the School’s music curriculum, scheduled according to a timetable prepared by the School.

Tuition will be tailored to your strengths and preferences, as discussed at the interview stage, and may include a mix of individual and ensemble instrumental/vocal sessions.

● Cello Visiting Music Teacher
● Violin Visiting Music Teacher
● Double Bass Visiting Music Teacher


The Visiting Music Teacher will:
● Deliver high-quality individual and, if agreed, ensemble lessons.
● Prepare pupils for performances and, where appropriate, graded examinations, conservatoire auditions auditions.
● Support and promote participation in the School’s musical activities.
● Communicate effectively with pupils, parents and staff.
● Maintain accurate records of teaching and pupil progress.

The Music Department

Music is a valued part of school life, with a strong culture of participation and performance. Pupils are encouraged to engage in individual lessons, ensembles and concerts.

The successful candidates will:


● Be an accomplished specialist with high level performance skills as an instrumentalist or vocalist.
● Have relevant industry experience and up-to-date knowledge of higher education audition requirements and expectations

● Up to date knowledge and understanding of pedagogy and developments in music education.
● Have experience teaching young people.
● Demonstrate the ability to motivate and engage learners of all abilities.
● Possess strong organisational and communication skills.
● Be reliable, flexible and able to work independently.
