Historic win for Ryde

Football - Ryde 1st XI Boys 3 v 2 Christ’s Hospital

A fantastic comeback secured a dramatic extra-time victory as Ryde reached the third round of ISFA National Cup for the very first time.

Trailing 2-0 at half-time, Ryde mounted a second-half rally, levelling the score at 2-2, before scoring in extra-time to beat Christ's Hospital 3-2.

The commitment, determination and togetherness of the team was praised by Mrs Scholes. “I’m unbelievably proud of every single one of you,” she said.

“From the first whistle to the last, you showed exactly what it means to play for each other, fighting for every ball, encouraging your teammates and never giving up. The way you supported one another, stayed positive under pressure, and kept believing, even when things got tough, was truly impressive."

The win secured Ryde’s place in Round 3 of the competition. Mr Brett added that the team’s character and energy set them apart, highlighting how the boys represented Ryde School with pride, respect, and commitment.

The match was a true reflection of the team’s heart, teamwork and belief, qualities that continue to define Ryde’s sporting ethos. It was an incredible battle and a performance the players should remember for a long time. Huge credit to everyone involved — players, coaches, and supporters.
